Dr. Abbas is a proud Rutgers alumni with a B.A. in Biological Sciences and a minor in Middle Eastern Studies. She obtained a Doctorate of Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University and is a member of the American Optometric Association.
She specialized in primary care during her clinical rotations and has an extensive history of training in ocular disease, contact lens fittings, pediatrics, geriatrics, and surgical co-management. Dr. Abbas has done clinical externships at the Witlin Center for Advanced Eye Care and the Lyons Campus of the VA New Jersey Health Care System. She also received training as a civilian from the Naval Air Station in Florida, where she had to co-manage the ocular health of pilots and crew to ensure that they met the requirements to operate aircraft established by the U.S. Navy. Dr. Abbas is well known for patient education and providing patients with a thorough and detailed evaluation of the patient’s condition.
With her roots in Central Jersey, she has established a presence in the local community as a joyful person with a great sense of humor and enjoys reading, hiking, trying new cuisines, and working out.
