Meet Dr. Kerry Gelb & - Optometric Team Near You
Dr. Gelb received his Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY College at Oneonta in 1980. He graduated with honors in 1984 from the Illinois College of Optometry, and completed a one-year residency in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease. Dr. Gelb has been practicing in New Jersey for the past 22 years. He is also a member of the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians and the President of ALLDocs (the Association of LensCrafters Leaseholding Doctors).
Dr. Gelb has been interviewed on both radio and television on topics relating to ocular health. He frequently lectures on the diagnosis and treatment of macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetes. He has extensive knowledge and experience in the evaluation and fitting of specialty or “hard-to-fit” contact lenses. He is also certified in the evaluation and management of Corneal Refractive Therapy contact lenses. He is committed to providing the highest quality of care to his patients. He currently resides in Union County with his wife and child.

Dr. Jeffrey Case has been practicing therapeutic optometry at Contact Lens & Vision located at the Brunswick Square Mall and the Freehold Raceway Mall for over 20 years. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Alfred University in 1984. He also received a doctorate in optometry from the New England College of Optometry in 1988. He completed his residency in ocular disease at Omni Eye Services in Iselin, New Jersey. He is a member of the American Optometric Association & New Jersey Optometric Association. In addition, Dr. Case is licensed to practice optometry in the states of Pennsylvania and New York.
Dr. Case currently resides in Morris County, New Jersey with his wife, Susan, also an optometric physician, and his three daughters.
Dr. Avanti Rajan received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan in 1998. She continued her education at the Michigan College of Optometry, where she graduated in 2002 with honors. Dr. Rajan specializes in contact lenses, primary care optometry, geriatrics and disease management.

In her spare time Dr. Rajan enjoys traveling, reading, and playing tennis. She currently resides in Iselin, New Jersey with her husband, Dr. Samir Rajan and her two children.
Dr. Patel attended Rutgers University where he received his bachelors degree in Biological Sciences in 2009. He then decided to move to San Antonio, Texas in 2010 to begin his doctoral training at the Rosenberg School of Optometry where he received his doctoral degree in 2014.
His clinical internship included training in primary care optometry, contact lenses, vision therapy, pediatrics and low vision. Through his clinical externships at the Community Eye Clinic in Fort Worth and Sharp Eye Consultants in San Antonio, Dr. Patel received immense experience in providing comprehensive eye care and specialized in diagnosis and management of glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and surgical co-management.
In his spare time, Dr. Patel likes exploring the tristate area, traveling, and playing sports. He currently resides in Middlesex County, New Jersey with his family.
Dr. Heather Deeble received her Bachelors of Science degree from Moravian College in 2001. She then went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree from The Pennsylvania College of Optometry (Salus University) in 2005. Her extensive clinical training includes a variety of practice settings, providing patient care throughout New Jersey, Arizona, Pennsylvania and Florida. Dr. Deeble provides comprehensive eye care, which includes diagnosing and managing ocular disease. She also has an extensive background in fitting contact lenses, especially the “hard to fit” lenses.
She is currently a member of the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians and the American Optometric Association. In her spare time she enjoys exercising, dining, and anything that will allow her spend more time outdoors. She currently resides in Union County, NJ with her husband and their 3 daughters.
Dr. Abbas is a proud Rutgers alumni with a B.A. in Biological Sciences and a minor in Middle Eastern Studies. She obtained a Doctorate of Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University and is a member of the American Optometric Association.
She specialized in primary care during her clinical rotations and has an extensive history of training in ocular disease, contact lens fittings, pediatrics, geriatrics, and surgical co-management. Dr. Abbas has done clinical externships at the Witlin Center for Advanced Eye Care and the Lyons Campus of the VA New Jersey Health Care System. She also received training as a civilian from the Naval Air Station in Florida, where she had to co-manage the ocular health of pilots and crew to ensure that they met the requirements to operate aircraft established by the U.S. Navy. Dr. Abbas is well known for patient education and providing patients with a thorough and detailed evaluation of the patient’s condition.
With her roots in Central Jersey, she has established a presence in the local community as a joyful person with a great sense of humor and enjoys reading, hiking, trying new cuisines, and working out.
Dr. Patel received her BA in Psychology with a minor in Biological Science from the University of South Carolina in 2010. After being raised in the south most of her life, she decided to move to San Antonio, Texas in 2011 to begin her doctoral training. She received her doctoral degree at the Rosenberg School of Optometry in 2015. Dr. Patel then spent one year in St. Louis, Missouri at the John Cochran VA Medical Center completing her residency in Primary Care and Ocular Disease.
During her residency training, Dr. Patel performed specialty contact lens fitstings with scleral and rigid gas- permeable lenses, low vision exams for visually-impaired veterans, and co-management care with corneal and retinal specialists at the VA in St. Louis. Dr. Patel provides patients with comprehensive eye care including primary care optometry, contact lens fits, and disease management.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading, cooking, the outdoors, and most importantly, spending time with her family which is why she made the big move to the Northeast. Most of her family lives in this area.
